HydraFacial
HydraFacial is a hydradermabrasion system. Learn the steps and what to ask in English about boosters and skin type.
How it works
HydraFacial is a system from The HydraFacial Company (BeautyHealth) that cleans and exfoliates skin using a vortex-style tip and liquid serums. The usual steps are cleansing, gentle exfoliation, extraction of debris from pores, and then a hydrating step with serums. It is a non-invasive treatment with little downtime. It does not cut or inject the skin. Results vary, and the effect on skin tends to be short-term and mainly about smoothness and hydration.
Good to know
- Treatment is in steps, and some steps can be skipped for sensitive skin.
- Extra serums, often called boosters, are optional. Ask what is in them.
- Most people feel suction and coolness.
- Mild redness or sensitivity can occur, and rarely irritation or breakouts.
Asking about HydraFacial in English
"Aqua peel" and "water peel" are common names in Korea, and they do not always mean the HydraFacial brand. Ask the coordinator whether the device is HydraFacial, and what tip and serum will be used on you.
Ask the doctor to list the steps and the products, including any acids. If you have allergies or sensitive skin, say so in writing. Ask whether it is suitable the day before a flight or a laser session, and how long the effect may last.
HydraFacial: common questions
Is "aqua peel" the same as HydraFacial?
Not always. Ask whether the brand system is used.
Are boosters required?
No. They are add-ons. Ask for the ingredient list before agreeing.
Can I do it before a trip?
Many people can. It usually has little downtime, but ask about your skin.
