Sofwave
Sofwave uses SUPERB ultrasound technology. Learn how to confirm the device and understand how it differs from classic HIFU.
How it works
Sofwave uses a technology called SUPERB, short for synchronous ultrasound parallel beam. Several ultrasound beams are delivered together to heat a layer in the middle of the skin, with surface cooling to protect the top layer. That layer is shallower than the depths reached by many classic HIFU tips. The idea is to encourage collagen remodeling over time. Imaging is not the main feature, and results vary by person.
Good to know
- Sofwave is often grouped with HIFU in casual talk, but the maker describes a different beam design.
- A cooling element touches the skin during treatment.
- Warmth, snapping, or mild tenderness may be felt.
- Redness or swelling can follow, and rare effects include bruising.
Asking about Sofwave in English
Because people say "ultrasound lifting" for many machines, write the word "Sofwave" in your message and ask for a yes or no. Then ask for the device name in your treatment record, so you have it in writing.
Ask what the settings in your plan mean. Typical terms are energy level and number of passes. A good question is: "What will you adjust if I feel too much heat?" Also ask how the doctor decides when a pass is finished, and what you should expect on the first two days.
Sofwave: common questions
Is Sofwave the same as HIFU?
Both use ultrasound, but the delivery method and typical depth differ. Ask the provider to explain the difference for your plan.
Is there downtime?
Many people go back to normal activity, though redness or swelling is possible. Ask what is typical for your area.
How many visits might I need?
It varies by person and goal. Ask the doctor to give a range and the reason.
