Spectra
Spectra from Lutronic is a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. Use this page to ask about toning, carbon peels, and tattoo work in English.
How it works
Spectra, built by Lutronic, is a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. It can deliver short, strong pulses at 1064 nm and at a second wavelength for surface pigment. At low energy it is used in gentle "toning" sessions for uneven tone. With a carbon lotion on the skin it is used in carbon peel sessions, and at higher energies it can be used for some tattoo ink. Results vary by person and by the plan.
Good to know
- The same machine can feel very different depending on the setting.
- Toning uses low energy and is usually mild.
- Tattoo work uses higher energy and may cause crusting.
- Ask how the provider will protect against dark marks after treatment.
Asking about Spectra in English
"Spectra" is also the name of other products. Ask the coordinator to confirm "Spectra by Lutronic" for your visit and which program applies: toning, carbon peel, or tattoo. The words matter because the settings and downtime differ.
Ask the doctor what energy level is planned and what it feels like. You could ask, "Is today a low-energy session?" Also ask how many visits you need and how you will track change. Keep photos in the same lighting each time.
Spectra: common questions
Does laser toning use the same settings as tattoo removal?
No. Toning uses gentler settings. Tattoo work uses stronger settings and has more downtime.
What is the carbon lotion for?
It is a dark lotion that absorbs laser energy at the skin surface. It is used in carbon peel sessions.
Can toning cause problems?
Some people see redness or uneven tone, especially with too many or too strong sessions. Follow the doctor's plan.
