Laser Lifting (Fotona 4D / Titan)

Laser lifting uses infrared laser energy to warm skin and tissue, sometimes through the inside of the mouth. People often consider it for early laxity or rough texture. Knowing the terms before your visit helps the consultation go smoothly.

How it works

A laser delivers infrared energy that heats the skin or deeper tissue in a controlled way. Some protocols treat the surface in a pattern, and others use special handpieces for the inside of the cheek. Heating may encourage collagen contraction and remodeling over weeks. The exact plan depends on the device and your goals, and results vary by person.

Who it may suit

  • Mild looseness or early jowling
  • Skin that looks dull or has fine pores
  • Anyone wanting a gentler option with little downtime
  • People who can attend several sessions a few weeks apart

The treatment day

  1. Consultation. The doctor reviews your skin, medicines and goals. Share if you are prone to cold sores.
  2. Preparation. Skin is cleaned. Numbing cream may be used if needed. Eye protection is provided.
  3. Laser passes. The doctor treats set zones in several passes. You may feel warmth, snapping or heat.
  4. Aftercare. Cooling and moisturizer follow. Ask for the instructions in English.

Aftercare

  • Moisturize and use sunscreen every morning
  • Skip strong acids, retinoids and scrubs for the days the doctor advises
  • Avoid heat exposure such as hot yoga or saunas for a day or two
  • Contact the clinic if you see blistering, unusual pain or spreading redness
  • Photograph your skin each week so the clinic can compare

Things to know first

  • Redness, warmth and mild swelling are common for a few hours to a few days
  • Burns, pigment change or cold sore flare-ups can happen
  • Tanned skin, recent sun exposure and some medicines raise risk, so say so
  • Not advised during pregnancy or with active skin infection in the area
  • Results vary and may be subtle

Talking through laser lifting in English

Tell the doctor about sun exposure, tanning, retinoids, and any cold sore history. These affect how the laser is set and whether a preventive medicine is suggested. Give dates, because a recent beach trip changes the plan.

Ask which handpiece is planned, whether anything will be placed in the mouth, and how many visits are suggested. Ask about the gap between sessions, since you may be in Seoul for a limited time.

Common terms include pulse, passes and fluence. If you do not follow, say so politely and ask the coordinator to restate it. Request written aftercare and a message channel for questions from home.

Laser Lifting (Fotona 4D / Titan): common questions

How is laser lifting different from HIFU?

They use different energy types and reach different depths. The doctor can explain which fits your concern better.

Is it suitable if I tan easily?

Maybe, but recent tanning can increase risk. Tell the doctor your sun history before you book.

How many sessions are typical?

Often several sessions a few weeks apart, but it varies.

Will I look different at the airport?

Most people have little visible change, though mild redness can occur. Ask the doctor about your flight date.
