Rejuran (PN Skin Booster)

Rejuran is a brand of skin booster made from polynucleotides (PN), fragments of DNA that are usually sourced from salmon. It is placed in the skin to support healing and quality rather than to change facial shape. It is popular with visitors, so it is worth knowing what to ask and what limits apply.

How it works

Small amounts are injected into the upper layers of skin across the face, or in specific spots such as under the eyes or on scars. Polynucleotides are believed to assist how skin repairs itself and to bind water, which might help texture, fine lines and the look of thin skin over time. Several sessions are commonly spaced a few weeks apart. Results build gradually and vary by person. Some versions are made for thinner skin, such as the eye area, so product choice depends on where you are treated.

Who it may suit

  • Thin, dull or fragile-looking skin
  • Fine lines and uneven texture
  • Some shallow acne scars, as part of a plan
  • The under-eye area in a product made for it, if the doctor finds it suitable

The treatment day

  1. Skin and history review. The doctor looks at your skin and asks about allergies, especially to fish, and past treatments.
  2. Numbing cream. Cream is applied for a period before injections.
  3. Micro-injections. Many small injections are made across the treatment area, creating tiny bumps.
  4. Soothing and advice. The skin is cleaned and cooled, and aftercare plus the next visit date are explained.

Aftercare

  • Do not rub or scrub the face for the first day.
  • Expect small bumps and pinpoint marks that fade in a day or two.
  • Avoid makeup for several hours, and avoid saunas and intense exercise for a day or two.
  • Use gentle skincare and sunscreen while the skin settles.
  • Take dated photos before and after each session to follow changes.

Things to know first

  • Redness, bumps, bruising and tenderness are common for a few days.
  • Because the source is often salmon, tell the doctor about fish allergy or any history of allergic reactions.
  • Infection and lumps are uncommon but possible. Not advised during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or with active infection or skin disease at the site.
  • Blood thinners can increase bruising, so list your medicines.
  • Results are gradual, may need repeated treatment and vary by person.

Talking through Rejuran in English

Rejuran is a brand with several versions, so start with the product question: Which Rejuran product is this, and which area is it for? Ask the doctor to write the product name in English on your treatment note. Tell the doctor your goal in simple words, such as less dullness, better texture or softer scars.

Say clearly if you have a fish allergy, a history of allergic reactions, or take blood thinners or supplements like fish oil. Ask how many visits the doctor expects and how long to wait between them. If you are in Seoul for a short stay, ask what a single session can do and what follow-up could happen at home. Ask what small marks to expect on the day.

Terms you may hear: PN (polynucleotide), healer, skin booster, micro-papule (small bump) and downtime. Keep photos from each session and the product name. If you will fly soon, ask whether the small marks should have faded by then.
